Luke 12:15

“And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.”

Context:To understand the verse better, it’s helpful to look at the context. In the preceding verses, Jesus was teaching about hypocrisy, the fear of God, and acknowledging Him before others. He then turns to address a request made by someone in the crowd to divide an inheritance with his brother (Luke 12:13). Jesus responds by cautioning against greed and the pursuit of material possessions.

Covetousness:Jesus advises the people to “take heed, and beware of covetousness.” Covetousness refers to an intense desire for possessions or wealth that goes beyond reasonable bounds.
