Luke 19:32

Posted on 18 May at 14:38
Listen to this article

“And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them.”

Context:Luke 19:32 is part of the larger passage describing Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Jesus instructed two of His disciples to go into a nearby village, where they would find a colt tied, which no one had ridden before. The disciples were to bring the colt to Jesus, as it was needed for His entry into Jerusalem.

Faith and Obedience:This verse highlights the disciples’ faith and obedience. They were sent by Jesus with a specific task, and they followed His instructions exactly. They trusted that what Jesus had said would come to pass, and they acted accordingly. Their faith and obedience played a crucial role in fulfilling the plan of God.

Fulfillment of Prophecy:This verse also emphasises the fulfilment of prophecy. The disciples found things exactly as Jesus had said they would. This demonstrates Jesus’ divine knowledge and the fulfilment of Old Testament prophecies. In this case, Jesus fulfilled the prophecy found in Zechariah 9:9, which states that the Messiah would enter Jerusalem riding on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

God’s Sovereignty:Luke 19:32 highlights God’s sovereignty and His ability to bring about His plans and purposes. Jesus’ instructions to the disciples were specific, and every detail came to pass as He had foretold. It reminds us that God is in control and orchestrates events according to His divine plan. This should encourage us to trust in God’s promises and follow His guidance, knowing that He is faithful to fulfil His word.

Application:Luke 19:32 encourages us to have faith and obedience in our relationship with Jesus. Just as the disciples trusted and obeyed Jesus’ instructions, we are called to do the same. We should trust that His word is true and act accordingly, even when things may not make sense to us. It also reminds us that God’s plans and prophecies will be fulfilled in His perfect timing. We can rely on His faithfulness and sovereignty as we navigate our own journeys of faith.

  • In conclusion, Luke 19:32 teaches us about faith, obedience, the fulfilment of prophecy, and God’s sovereignty. It encourages us to trust in Jesus, follow His instructions, and believe that His promises will come to pass. May we strive to be faithful and obedient followers of Christ, knowing that He is in control of all things.
