Matthew 10:42
And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

Context
This verse concludes Jesus’ instructions to the Twelve as He sends them out on their mission in Matthew 10. He has just spoken about receiving a prophet or a righteous man, and now He extends the principle to the simplest act of hospitality shown to any of His followers.
Meaning
Jesus says that whoever gives even a cup of cold water to “one of these little ones“—a term referring to His disciples and those who belong to Him, especially the humble, vulnerable, or weak in faith—will not lose their reward. The act is done “in the name of a disciple,” meaning it is motivated by the recognition that the person belongs to Christ. The reward is certain: “he shall in no wise lose his reward.” This is a strong assurance that no act of kindness done for Christ’s sake, however small, will go unnoticed or unrewarded by God.
Biblical connections
A parallel promise appears in Mark 9:41, where giving a cup of water in Christ’s name because the recipient belongs to Him also brings a reward. Both passages emphasize that Christ takes what is done to the least of His brethren as done to Himself.
