Matthew 14:34

And when they were gone ouer, they came into þ land of Genesaret. Matthew 14:34 (KJV)

In the preceding verses (Matthew 14:22‑33), Jesus sent His disciples ahead in a boat while He dismissed the crowds and went up a mountain to pray. During the night the disciples encountered a stormy sea, and Jesus walked on the water toward them. Initially frightened, they were reassured by His presence. Peter stepped out of the boat to walk toward Jesus but began to sink when he became fearful, prompting Jesus to save him. When Jesus and Peter entered the boat, the storm ceased, and they reached the land of Gennesaret.

Gennesaret was a fertile region on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee, known for its agricultural productivity, especially wheat and other crops. The arrival in Gennesaret sets the stage for the continuation of Jesus’ ministry in the area. The following verses (Matthew 14:35‑36) describe how people recognized Jesus and brought their sick to Him for healing, demonstrating His compassion and power.
