Micah 4:5

For all people will walke euery one in the name of his god, and we will walke in the Name of the Lord our God for euer and euer. Micah 4:5 (KJV)

Micah was a prophet who lived during the 8th century B.C. His prophecies were primarily directed toward the Kingdom of Judah and the city of Jerusalem. In Micah 4 the prophet speaks about the future glory of Zion and the establishment of God’s kingdom.

Universal Worship: In this verse Micah declares that “all peoples shall walk every one in the name of their god.” This statement describes a future scenario where religious diversity exists, reflecting the nations’ practices in the prophesied era. It highlights the prevalent idolatry and the fact that people will follow their own gods.

Exclusive Devotion: In contrast to the diverse worship of other gods, Micah affirms the unwavering commitment of the faithful remnant: “we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.” This declaration emphasizes the loyalty and devotion of true believers who choose to follow the Lord and commit their lives to Him alone.

The Lord as the True God: By using the phrase “the name of the LORD,” Micah emphasizes the supremacy and uniqueness of the God of Israel. The name of the Lord represents His character, authority, and divine attributes. The people of God are called to walk in His name, symbolizing a life lived in obedience to His will and in accordance with His nature.

Eternity of Worship: The verse concludes with the phrase “for ever and ever,” emphasizing the enduring nature of the faithful remnant’s devotion to the Lord. It conveys that their allegiance and worship will continue unabated throughout eternity, reflecting the eternal nature of God Himself and His everlasting covenant with His people.
