Nehemiah 9:9

“And didst see the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heardest their cry by the Red sea;”

Context:Nehemiah, a cupbearer to the Persian king, was burdened by the news of Jerusalem’s walls being broken down and the people’s distress. He received permission from the king to return to Jerusalem and oversee the rebuilding of the city walls. After the walls were completed, the people gathered together for a solemn assembly.
