Numbers 33:51

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan;

Context

The book of Numbers records the Israelites’ journey from Mount Sinai to the borders of the Promised Land. In this verse God commands Moses to address the children of Israel concerning their imminent entry into Canaan after crossing the Jordan River.

The Jordan River formed a natural barrier between the wilderness and the land God had promised. Crossing it marked the decisive moment when the people would move from wandering to possession of the promised inheritance. The verse therefore anticipates this transition and underscores its importance for the nation.

Meaning

God’s faithfulness is evident in the fulfillment of the promise to bring His people into the land. Despite the hardships of the wilderness wanderings, He remained true to His word and led them toward the inheritance He had pledged.
