Proverbs 15:29
The Lord is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

Context
This verse sets two kinds of people side by side: the wicked and the righteous. It shows how the Lord relates to each. The first part speaks of distance, and the second part speaks of hearing. Together they teach a clear truth about God’s character and His dealings with people.
The distance between God and the wicked is not about space. God is everywhere, and He is all-powerful. Rather, the distance is about favor and closeness. The Lord does not give His help or His friendship to those who keep doing evil. He is far from them in the sense that He does not listen to their cries when they call on Him in trouble. This is a serious warning about the result of sin.
Meaning
Wickedness means actions and attitudes that go against God’s commands. It includes deceit, violence, immorality, and any form of evil. Such behavior breaks the bond between a person and God. Sin separates people from His presence and fellowship. The verse does not say that God stops loving the wicked, but it does say that He does not have close communion with them while they persist in sin.
In contrast, the righteous are those who seek to live according to God’s will. They obey His commandments and trust in His wisdom. Their prayers are not ignored. God hears them with attention and responds with favor. This hearing is more than just knowing what they say; it means He accepts them and acts on their behalf. The righteous enjoy a nearness to God that the wicked do not have.

This verse calls every reader to examine their own heart. It is not enough to say prayers if a person continues in known sin.
