Listen to this article

“Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth.”

Psalm 105:5 (KJV) says:

This verse is part of Psalm 105, which is a psalm of praise and thanksgiving, emphasizing the greatness and faithfulness of God throughout history. It is attributed to King David and is believed to have been written to commemorate the ark of the covenant being brought to Jerusalem.

Now, let’s break down Psalm 105:5 and explore its significance:

Remembering God’s marvelous works:The psalmist encourages the reader to remember and reflect upon the marvelous works of God. This includes God’s mighty acts, miracles, and interventions in the past. By remembering God’s works, we gain a deeper appreciation for His power, faithfulness, and providence.

His wonders:The wonders mentioned here refer to the extraordinary displays of God’s power, such as the plagues in Egypt, the parting of the Red Sea, the provision of manna in the wilderness, and numerous other miracles recorded in the Old Testament. These wonders serve as a testament to God’s sovereignty and His ability to intervene in human affairs.

The judgments of His mouth:The term “judgments” in this context refers to God’s righteous decrees and commandments. It emphasizes the importance of knowing and obeying God’s Word, recognizing that His judgments are just and trustworthy. God’s spoken words carry authority and are meant to guide His people in righteous living.

The verse as a whole serves as a call to remember and reflect upon God’s works, wonders, and judgments. By doing so, we cultivate a grateful heart, deepen our faith, and develop a greater understanding of God’s character.

Practically, this verse invites us to engage in regular spiritual reflection and meditation. We can spend time studying the Bible, particularly the accounts of God’s mighty acts and miracles, to remind ourselves of His faithfulness. Additionally, we can seek to apply His judgments and commandments to our lives, striving to live in alignment with His will.

In summary, Psalm 105:5 encourages us to remember and celebrate God’s marvelous works, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth. By reflecting on these aspects, we grow in our understanding of God’s faithfulness, His power, and His desire for us to walk in righteousness.
