Psalm 107 is a hymn of thanksgiving for God’s steadfast love and deliverance. It opens by calling people to praise God for His goodness, then describes four groups in distress: wanderers in the wilderness, prisoners, the sick, and sailors caught in storms. The word “hungry” points to people who lack what they need to live. God does not merely give them food for one day; He settles them in a place where they can build a city.
