Psalms 144:2

“My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.”

Psalm 144 is attributed to David, the shepherd‑king of Israel, and is a psalm of praise and thanksgiving for God’s deliverance and protection. In this verse David names several attributes of God that reveal His character and His care for His people.

Goodness–

Trustworthy–

David places his complete trust in God, recognizing Him as reliable, faithful, and worthy of confidence.

Subduer–

God enables David to subdue his people under him, highlighting God’s power and sovereignty in granting victory.

These attributes invite believers to acknowledge and appreciate the multifaceted nature of God’s character. We can find comfort in His goodness, seek refuge in Him as our fortress and high tower, rely on Him as our deliverer and shield, and place our trust in His faithful reliability.

Like David, we are called to trust God completely. Despite the challenges we face, we can rely on His faithfulness and strength, confident that He will provide, protect, and deliver us.
