Psalms 17:15

“As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.”

Psalms 17:15 (KJV)

“This verse is part of Psalm 17, which is a prayer of David.”

In this particular verse, David expresses his trust and hope in God’s righteousness and his desire to be in God’s presence.

“As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness”

: David starts by affirming his personal commitment to seeking God’s face in righteousness. This phrase indicates his desire for an intimate relationship with God. David understood that only in righteousness, through living a life aligned with God’s principles and commands, could he approach and behold the face of God.

“I shall be satisfied when I awake”

: This line carries a dual meaning. Firstly, it expresses David’s confidence that he will experience satisfaction and contentment when he wakes up from sleep. This suggests his trust that God will continue to provide for him and fulfill his needs. Secondly, it alludes to the hope of eternal life and resurrection. David anticipates the ultimate awakening when he will be fully satisfied in God’s presence.

“With thy likeness”

: David longs to awaken in God’s likeness. This implies that he desires to be transformed into God’s image and reflect His character. David recognizes that true fulfillment and satisfaction can only be found in becoming more like God and conforming to His divine nature.
