Psalms 66:2

Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious. Psalms 66:2 (KJV)

Sing forth the honour of His name: This call invites believers to exalt and proclaim God’s name. The name of God embodies His character, nature, and attributes; therefore singing to His name means acknowledging and celebrating His greatness, goodness, holiness, and faithfulness.

Make His praise glorious: The psalmist urges the people to render God’s praise in a glorious manner. Praise should be excellent, magnificent, and filled with reverence and awe, reflecting the majesty and splendor of the God we worship. It must be sincere and wholehearted, not half‑hearted or casual, expressing true adoration and thanksgiving.

• a. Engage in worship – The passage emphasizes worship through singing. Believers may express love, gratitude, and reverence for God in songs and hymns, whether individually or collectively, in private or public gatherings.
• b. Magnify God’s name – When we sing and praise, we magnify His name, acknowledging His greatness and proclaiming it to others. Our worship and testimony can inspire and encourage others to honor and glorify God.
• c. Offer heartfelt praise – Praise should arise from a sincere, authentic place, not merely ritual. Genuine devotion and gratitude draw us nearer to God and deepen our relationship with Him.
• d. Reflect God’s glory – Our worship should mirror God’s glory. By exalting His name we point others to His attributes and character; observers of sincere worship may glimpse God’s greatness and be drawn to Him.
