Psalms 67:6

Posted on 18 May at 15:16
Listen to this article

“Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.”

1. Context: Psalm 67 is a psalm of thanksgiving and a prayer for God’s blessings upon the people of Israel. It expresses a desire for God’s salvation and blessings to be made known to all nations.

2. The Earth’s Yield: The verse begins with the statement, “Then shall the earth yield her increase.” This phrase speaks of the abundance and fruitfulness of the earth when God’s blessings are poured out. It indicates that when God blesses His people, the earth responds by producing an abundant harvest. It highlights the connection between God’s provision and the natural order of the created world.

3. God, Our Own God: The verse continues by emphasizing that the God who causes the earth to yield its increase is “our own God.” This phrase emphasizes the personal relationship between God and His people. It signifies that the blessings and increase come from a God who is intimately involved in their lives and cares for them.

4. The Blessing of God: The verse concludes with the affirmation that God will bless His people. God’s blessings encompass all aspects of life, including material provisions, spiritual blessings, and protection. The blessings of God are not limited to a specific group but extend to all who put their trust in Him.

5. Application: Psalm 67:6 reminds us of several important truths. Firstly, it teaches us that God is the source of all blessings and provisions in our lives. It is God who causes the earth to yield its increase, and it is God who blesses His people. Secondly, it emphasizes the importance of acknowledging and recognizing God as our own personal God. Our relationship with God should be personal and intimate, based on trust and faith. Finally, the verse encourages us to seek God’s blessings and to be thankful for the abundance and provisions that He provides.
