Psalms 68:19

Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.

Psalms 68:19 (KJV)

Psalm 68 is a triumphant song of praise for God’s victory and deliverance. It celebrates His sovereignty, His care for His people, and His triumph over enemies, acknowledging Him as the great King who rules over all the earth. Within this setting, verse 19 stands as a personal and communal declaration of praise for God’s constant, daily goodness.

The opening words, “Blessed be the Lord,” are an expression of worship and gratitude, acknowledging God as the source of every blessing. The phrase “who daily loadeth us with benefits” emphasizes that God’s provision is not occasional but continual—every single day He loads His people with good things. This includes both spiritual blessings, such as grace and peace, and temporal mercies like food, shelter, and protection. Some translations render this phrase as “daily bears our burden” or “carries our heavy loads day after day,” highlighting that God not only gives benefits but also carries the weight of our troubles, worries, and challenges. The verse then identifies God as “the God of our salvation,” connecting His daily care to His saving work. The word “Selah” invites the reader to pause and reflect on this truth, allowing it to sink deeply into the heart.

This verse inspires a lifestyle of gratitude and worship. We are called to recognize God’s daily blessings and respond with praise and thanksgiving. It also encourages trust in God’s provision, reminding us not to be anxious about tomorrow because our Father knows our needs. Acknowledging God as the God of our salvation points us to place our faith in Him, understanding that true deliverance comes through a personal relationship with God, made possible through Jesus Christ. The mention of “Selah” prompts us to pause and reflect on God’s goodness, meditating on the abundance of His blessings in our lives.

Psalm 68:19 is a beautiful declaration of praise, gratitude, and trust in God’s daily provision and salvation. It invites us to cultivate a heart of worship, reflect on God’s goodness, and rely on Him for our every need. As we go about our days, may we remember that the Lord who saves us also carries us, loading us with benefits each morning.
