Summery

Psalm 16, attributed to David, is a beautiful expression of trust and devotion to God. The psalmist declares his complete reliance on God for his security, joy, and inheritance. He acknowledges that apart from God, there is no good thing in his life. The psalmist takes refuge in the Lord, choosing Him as his portion and cup, and recognizing that God has assigned him a delightful inheritance.

The psalmist praises God for guiding him and giving him counsel, even during the night. He expresses confidence that God's presence is always with him, preventing him from being shaken. The psalmist rejoices and is glad, knowing that God will not abandon his soul to Sheol or allow him to experience corruption.

In the final verses, the psalmist affirms his assurance of eternal life with God, in His presence where there is fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore. This psalm highlights the deep relationship and trust between the psalmist and God, acknowledging God's guidance, protection, and the ultimate joy found in His presence.
