Revelation 1:7

Posted on 18 May at 14:22

“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.”

This verse is found in the Book of Revelation, which is the final book of the New Testament. It is a prophetic and symbolic book that provides insights into the end times and the return of Jesus Christ. Revelation 1:7 specifically speaks about the second coming of Jesus Christ and the universal recognition of His return.

The Coming of Jesus Christ:The verse begins with the phrase “Behold, he cometh with clouds.” This signifies the glorious and triumphant return of Jesus Christ to the earth. The imagery of clouds indicates His majesty and power. This event is eagerly anticipated by believers, as it represents the fulfillment of God’s promises and the establishment of His eternal kingdom.

Every Eye Shall See Him:The verse further states that “every eye shall see him.” This emphasizes the universality of Christ’s return. It suggests that His coming will not be hidden or restricted to a particular region or group of people. Instead, it will be a visible and undeniable event witnessed by people from all walks of life and all corners of the earth. This highlights the magnitude and significance of Christ’s second coming.

They Also Which Pierced Him:The verse continues by mentioning those “which pierced him.” This refers to the individuals who were directly involved in Jesus’ crucifixion, particularly the Roman soldiers who pierced His side with a spear. The implication here is that even those responsible for His death will witness His return. It suggests that both believers and unbelievers, including those who rejected and harmed Jesus during His earthly ministry, will recognize Him as the Messiah when He returns.

Wailing Because of Him:The verse concludes by stating, “all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him.” This phrase denotes a deep mourning or lamentation that will occur when Jesus returns. The wailing is not limited to a specific group but extends to all kindreds or tribes of the earth. It signifies a realization of the truth and the consequences of rejecting or opposing Jesus. The return of Christ will bring about a profound sense of remorse and anguish for those who did not believe in Him or rejected His salvation.

In summary, Revelation 1:7 describes the second coming of Jesus Christ, emphasizing its universal visibility and recognition. It reveals that everyone, including those who played a role in His crucifixion, will witness His return. The verse also indicates that there will be a great lamentation among the people of the earth when they realise the truth of His divinity and the consequences of their rejection.
