Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my Gospel, and the preaching of Iesus Christ, according to the reuelation of the the mysterie, which was kept secret since the world began: Romans 16:25 (KJV)

Romans is a letter written by the apostle Paul to the Christians in Rome. In the final chapter, Paul concludes his letter by sending greetings to various individuals in the Roman church, providing a fitting close to his theological discourse.

The verse begins by acknowledging that God has the power to establish believers. The word “establish” means to strengthen, support, or make firm, implying that God can stabilize the faith of believers. This power comes from God alone and underscores His sovereign ability to secure the church.

Paul mentions “my gospel,” referring to the message he preached—the good news of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. The gospel encompasses the life, death, and resurrection of Christ and stands as the central theme of Paul’s teaching throughout the epistle.

He emphasizes that the establishment of believers is according to the preaching of Jesus Christ. The teachings of Jesus, communicated through His apostles, play a vital role in grounding and strengthening the faith of believers, linking doctrinal truth directly to Christ’s own proclamation.

Paul calls the gospel the revelation of the mystery. In the New Testament, “mystery” signifies a divine secret once concealed but now revealed through Jesus Christ. This refers to the unveiling of God’s redemptive plan of salvation, a truth previously hidden from humanity.

The mystery of the gospel was kept secret in previous ages and is now disclosed through Christ. This indicates that the plan of salvation was part of God’s eternal purpose but remained concealed until the incarnation and the subsequent work of redemption.

Overall, Romans 16:25 highlights the power of God to establish believers through the preaching of Jesus Christ and underscores that the gospel reveals the mystery of God’s redemptive plan, which was hidden but is now made known to all.
