Zechariah Chapter 2

Summery

Zechariah 2 contains a vision of a man with a measuring line, symbolizing the future restoration and expansion of Jerusalem. The prophet sees a messenger urging the people of Jerusalem to flee from Babylon and return to their land. The Lord promises to be a protective wall around Jerusalem and promises to dwell in their midst. The people are called to rejoice and sing, for the Lord will come to dwell among them. Many nations will join themselves to the Lord and become His people. The Lord will inherit Judah as His portion and choose Jerusalem once again. The people are urged to be silent before the Lord, for He is coming to judge the nations and establish His kingdom.
