2 Chronicles Chapter 26

Summery

In 2 Chronicles 26, we learn about the reign of Uzziah, who became king of Judah at the age of 16. Uzziah followed in the ways of the Lord and did what was right in His sight. As a result, God blessed him with success in various endeavors.

Uzziah sought God and prospered in his military campaigns against the Philistines, the Arabians, and the Meunites. He fortified Jerusalem, built towers, and dug wells to support his armies. His fame spread far and wide due to his military might.

Uzziah also had a passion for agriculture and built vineyards, leading to a flourishing agricultural industry. He had a well-trained and well-equipped army of over 300,000 men, which he organized according to divisions.

However, Uzziah's success led to pride, and he transgressed against the Lord by entering the temple to burn incense, a duty reserved for the priests alone. The high priest and other priests confronted Uzziah, but he became angry and refused to listen. As a result, God struck him with leprosy, and he lived the rest of his life in isolation.

Uzziah's son Jotham took over the governance of the kingdom, while Uzziah's acts and reign were recorded by the prophet Isaiah.
