2 Corinthians 6:7

Posted on 18 May at 11:40

“By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,”

Context:This verse is part of a larger passage in which the apostle Paul addresses the Corinthian church, urging them to live lives that reflect their commitment to Christ and their ministry of reconciliation. In this specific verse, Paul emphasizes the spiritual weapons and resources available to believers as they engage in their spiritual warfare.

Word of Truth:The "word of truth" refers to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the message of salvation and reconciliation. It signifies the power and authority of God’s Word, which is a source of guidance, instruction, and transformation in the lives of believers. As Christians, we should rely on the truth of God’s Word to inform our beliefs, actions, and decisions.

Power of God:The "power of God" speaks of the divine strength and enablement available to believers through the Holy Spirit. It is not by our own efforts but by God’s power that we can effectively serve and live out our faith. This power empowers us to overcome obstacles, resist temptations, and fulfill the calling that God has placed upon our lives.

Armor of Righteousness:The "armor of righteousness" symbolizes the spiritual armor that believers are called to put on as they engage in spiritual warfare. It is not a physical armor but a metaphorical representation of the qualities and virtues that protect and equip us in our spiritual battles. Righteousness, here, refers to the state of being right with God and living in accordance with His will.

By mentioning "the right hand and on the left," Paul emphasizes the comprehensive nature of the resources available to believers. The Word of truth, the power of God, and the armor of righteousness equip us to face challenges from every direction, ensuring that we are fully prepared and protected.
