O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones.

Context
This verse is part of a psalm of thanksgiving that King David gave when the Ark of the Covenant was brought to Jerusalem (1 Chronicles 16:8-36). The people had gathered to worship, and David reminded them of their identity as God’s chosen nation.
Meaning
The verse calls the people “seed of Israel his servant” and “children of Jacob, his chosen ones.” These words point to their ancestry. Israel was the name God gave to Jacob after wrestling with Him (Genesis 32:28). So, the people are descendants of the man whom God renamed. The phrase “his servant” shows that God chose Israel to serve His purposes. “Chosen ones” means God selected them for a special relationship, not because they deserved it, but because of His gracious will.
Biblical connections
This call to remember identity echoes God’s covenant promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. In Deuteronomy 7:6, Moses tells Israel that God chose them to be a special people above all nations.
