“He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet, and setteth me upon my high places.”

Verse: “He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet, and setteth me upon my high places.” (Psalms 18:33, KJV)

Context: Psalm 18 is a psalm of David, and it is a hymn of praise and thanksgiving to God for delivering him from the hands of his enemies, particularly King Saul. In this psalm, David reflects on the Lord’s faithfulness, strength, and deliverance in his life.

Symbolism of “Hinds’ Feet”: The image of “hinds’ feet” in this verse carries symbolic meaning. A hind is a female deer known for its agility and ability to navigate difficult terrain with grace and surefootedness. David uses this imagery to describe how God enables him to move with strength, stability, and confidence.

God’s Empowerment: David acknowledges that it is God who “makes” his feet like hinds’ feet. This verse highlights God’s role in empowering and equipping David for the challenges he faces. It reminds us that our abilities and strengths come from the Lord, and it is through His grace that we can overcome obstacles and achieve great things.

Elevated to High Places: The second part of the verse states that God “sets” David upon his high places. This signifies not only victory but also a position of honor and authority. David, as a king, acknowledges that his success and elevated position are a result of God’s favor and divine intervention. It serves as a reminder that when we trust in God and rely on His strength, He exalts us and establishes us in places of influence and authority.

  • Trusting God’s Guidance: Like a deer with hinds’ feet, we can trust in God’s guidance and provision even in the midst of difficult circumstances. When we face obstacles, we can lean on God’s strength and wisdom, knowing that He will enable us to navigate through them with grace and steadfastness.

In conclusion, Psalms 18:33 speaks of God’s empowering presence in our lives, enabling us to overcome challenges and be elevated to places of honor and authority. It encourages us to trust in God’s strength and guidance, recognizing that our abilities and successes ultimately come from Him.
