“With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.”

Psalm 91:16 (KJV) says: With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Context:Psalm 91 is a psalm of trust and confidence in God’s protection. It speaks of the security and deliverance that come from seeking refuge in God. The psalm assures the reader of God’s faithfulness and promises of safety.

Promised Satisfaction:The verse begins by saying, “With long life will I satisfy him.” This phrase indicates that those who trust in God will experience a prolonged and fulfilling life. It suggests that God not only protects His people but also blesses them with abundant life. It is a promise of divine provision and contentment.

Divine Salvation:The verse continues, “And show him my salvation.” This statement implies that God will reveal His salvation to those who seek refuge in Him. The word “salvation” refers to deliverance, rescue, and preservation. It encompasses both physical and spiritual deliverance from harm and eternal consequences of sin.

Application:As believers, we can draw several key insights from this verse:

  • Trust in God’s Protection:Psalm 91 as a whole encourages us to trust in God’s unfailing protection and to take refuge in Him. We can find comfort in knowing that God cares for us and has a plan for our lives.
  • God’s Faithfulness:The verse emphasizes God’s faithfulness to satisfy and fulfill His promises. We can rely on His unwavering love and provision throughout our lives.
  • Seeking God’s Salvation:The verse points to the importance of seeking God’s salvation. Through Jesus Christ, God has provided the ultimate salvation, offering forgiveness of sins and eternal life. We are encouraged to accept this gift and live in relationship with Him.
  • Long-Term Perspective:The promise of long life does not guarantee exemption from trials or challenges. Instead, it suggests that God’s faithfulness endures through all seasons of life. We can trust Him to guide and sustain us, even in difficult times.

In summary, Psalm 91:16 reminds us of God’s commitment to satisfying His people with long life and revealing His salvation to them. It encourages us to trust in God’s protection, seek His salvation, and embrace His faithfulness throughout our lives.
