Revelation 19:9

And hee saith vnto mee, Write, Blessed are they which are called vnto the marriage supper of the Lambe. And he saith vnto mee, These are the true sayings of God. Revelation 19:9 (KJV)

This verse is part of the vision given to the apostle John in the book of Revelation. It occurs after the fall of Babylon the Great, the judgment of the great prostitute, and the rejoicing of the saints and the heavenly host.

The Marriage Supper of the Lamb: The verse begins with the announcement, “Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb.” This phrase symbolises the union between Christ, the Lamb, and His bride, the Church. The marriage imagery is used throughout the New Testament to describe the relationship between Christ and His followers (Ephesians 5:25‑32).

The marriage supper of the Lamb is a future event that represents the ultimate fulfilment of God’s redemptive plan. It symbolises the eternal union of Christ and His people, where believers will enjoy a joyous celebration in the presence of the Lord. It is a metaphorical depiction of the final consummation of the relationship between Christ and His Church.

The Blessed: The verse states, “Blessed are they which are called.” The term “blessed” refers to the state of divine favour and happiness that comes from being called to participate in the marriage supper of the Lamb. Those who respond to God’s invitation and have a personal relationship with Christ are considered blessed because they are partakers in the ultimate victory and eternal joy in the presence of God.

This verse reminds believers that true blessedness comes from being in a right relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. It emphasises the importance of responding to God’s call and living according to His will, which ultimately leads to eternal blessings.

The True Sayings of God: Revelation 22:6 states, “These sayings are faithful and true,” indicating that the prophetic messages in the book are trustworthy. While the phrasing “These are the true sayings of God” does not appear in the same verse as the marriage supper declaration, the overall testimony of Revelation affirms that its revelations are divinely inspired and will be fulfilled.

This reminder encourages believers to take the prophecies and teachings of the book seriously, knowing that God’s promises are reliable.
