Colossians 1:11

Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

The Christian life is not sustained by human energy or sheer willpower; it requires divine empowerment. Believers are fortified by the glorious power of God Himself. When tempted to look toward other sources for spiritual fullness, it is essential to remember that the power of the Creator is entirely sufficient.

We might expect such immense divine power to be given for spectacular outcomes or immediate deliverance from earthly hardship. Surprisingly, this strength is granted to produce patience and longsuffering. God's might is most profoundly demonstrated in the ability to endure trials and bear with difficult people without yielding to despair or bitterness. Patience involves enduring challenging circumstances, while longsuffering speaks to steadfastness when facing antagonism. Both demand supernatural strength.

Furthermore, this endurance is not meant to be a grudging resignation. It is to be accompanied by joyfulness. To suffer long and remain patient while maintaining a joyful spirit is a purely supernatural reality, reflecting a heart that rests securely in the sovereignty and goodness of God. True power is frequently manifested in quiet, joyful endurance rather than in dramatic escapes.
