Esther 5 (KJV) Summary:
Esther 5 in the King James Version of the Bible tells the story of Queen Esther's courageous approach to King Ahasuerus to plead for her people, the Jews, who were facing a plot of extermination. In this chapter, Esther prepares herself for the risky encounter by putting on her royal apparel and entering the king's inner court. When the king sees her, he extends his golden scepter, indicating his acceptance of her presence and offering her the opportunity to make her request.
Rather than immediately revealing her petition, Esther invites the king and his advisor, Haman, to a private banquet that she has prepared. At the banquet, the king asks Esther for her wish and assures her that it will be granted, even up to half of his kingdom. However, Esther strategically postpones her request and invites them both to another banquet the following day.
Haman leaves the banquet in high spirits but becomes infuriated when he sees Mordecai, a Jew, who refuses to bow down before him. Filled with rage, Haman consults with his wife and friends, who suggest he constructs a gallows to hang Mordecai.
