Ezekiel Chapter 47

Summery

Ezekiel 47 describes a vision in which the prophet is shown a river flowing out from the temple of God. As the river flows, it gradually becomes deeper and wider, eventually reaching a point where it cannot be crossed. Along the banks of the river, Ezekiel sees an abundance of trees bearing fruit every month and leaves for healing.

The angelic guide measures the river and leads Ezekiel through its waters, which progressively rise from ankle-deep to knee-deep, then to waist-deep, and finally become waters too deep to pass through. The guide explains that the waters represent the life-giving presence and blessings of God, which will bring healing and restoration to the land.

The chapter concludes with a description of the boundaries of the promised land, which will be divided among the twelve tribes of Israel. The land is described as a place of inheritance and possession for God’s people.
