Isaiah 35:7

Posted on 18 May at 15:06

“And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.”

Context:The book of Isaiah is a prophetic book in the Old Testament that contains messages from God to the people of Israel and Judah. Isaiah prophesied during a time when the people had turned away from God, and he warned them of the consequences of their disobedience. In Isaiah 35, the prophet delivers a message of hope and restoration, describing the future blessings and restoration of God’s people.

Symbolism of parched ground:The parched ground represents a dry and desolate condition. It can be seen as a metaphor for the spiritual condition of God’s people or any individual who is spiritually dry and barren, lacking the refreshing presence and blessings of God.

Transformation through God’s intervention:The verse speaks of the transformation that takes place when God intervenes. The parched ground is transformed into a pool of water, and the thirsty land becomes springs of water. This imagery symbolizes the spiritual transformation and renewal that God brings to a dry and barren situation. God has the power to change circumstances and breathe life into places that were once lifeless.

The habitation of dragons:Dragons are often used in the Bible to represent chaos, evil, and spiritual oppression. In this context, the habitation of dragons refers to places where darkness and evil prevail. It could represent any situation or environment dominated by sin, suffering, or spiritual bondage.

Grass, reeds, and rushes:The verse continues to describe the transformation brought about by God’s intervention. Where there were once dragons, grass with reeds and rushes will grow. This imagery suggests a complete reversal of the desolation and barrenness. Instead of a place of fear and danger, there will be life and abundance.

Spiritual application:Isaiah 35:7 can be applied to our lives today. It reminds us that God has the power to transform our lives and circumstances. When we are spiritually dry and barren, God can bring renewal and refreshment. He can turn our desolate situations into places of abundance and blessing. No matter how hopeless or impossible a situation may seem, God is able to bring about a change.

Trusting in God’s promises:The message of Isaiah 35:7 encourages us to trust in God’s promises. Just as God brought transformation to the parched ground, He can bring transformation to our lives. We need to have faith in His power and believe that He is able to bring about change in our lives and in the world around us.
