Isaiah 35:8

Posted on 18 May at 15:06

“And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.”

Isaiah 35:8 (KJV) says:This verse is part of a larger passage in Isaiah 35 that speaks about the restoration and transformation of the wilderness into a place of abundance and joy under the reign of God. Let’s break down the verse and explore its meaning:

Here, the prophet Isaiah is describing a road or a path that will be present in the wilderness. This highway symbolizes a clear and direct route, free from obstacles, that leads to a specific destination. In this context, it represents the way to God’s presence and blessings.

This highway is not an ordinary road but one that is consecrated and set apart for holy purposes. It signifies the path of righteousness and obedience to God. It emphasizes the importance of living a life that is dedicated to God and in accordance with His commandments.

The way of holiness is not accessible to the unclean or impure. It emphasizes that sin and impurity cannot coexist with God’s holiness. Those who desire to walk on this path must strive for purity and seek forgiveness for their sins.

The highway of holiness is intended for a specific group of people. It is not open to everyone but reserved for those who meet the criteria mentioned earlier – those who are clean, pure, and dedicated to God.

This part of the verse highlights the accessibility and clarity of the way of holiness. It assures that even those who lack wisdom or understanding will not go astray on this path. God provides guidance and direction to those who earnestly seek Him, ensuring that they stay on the right track.

Overall, Isaiah 35:8 teaches us about the importance of pursuing a holy and dedicated life to walk on the path that leads to God. It emphasizes the need for purity and obedience, as well as God’s provision of guidance for those who sincerely seek Him. It reminds us that our journey of faith is not one we undertake alone but with the assurance of divine support and direction.
