Jude 1:25
To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
Jude 1:25 (KJV)
Context
Jude closes his letter with worship. After warning against false teachers and urging believers to remain in the love of God, he directs attention away from human strength to the God who is able to keep His people and present them faultless before His glory.
Meaning
Calling God the only wise God confesses that His saving purpose is perfect and unrivalled. The title “our Saviour” celebrates divine initiative: rescue from sin, preservation in faith, and final acceptance come from God. In the context of the New Testament, this salvation is accomplished through Jesus Christ.
These four terms acknowledge God’s supreme worth and rule. Glory speaks of His radiant excellence, majesty of His greatness, dominion of His sovereign authority, and power of His effective might. None of these qualities is granted to God by worshippers; praise recognises what eternally belongs to Him.
The final words unite present worship with everlasting hope. God reigns now, even while error and opposition remain, and His authority will never end. The proper response is the “Amen” of faith: confident agreement, humble adoration, and a life that relies upon His keeping power while steadfastly contending for the faith.
