Jude Chapter 1

Summery

Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ and the brother of James, writes this letter to encourage believers to contend earnestly for the faith that was once delivered to the saints. He warns them about false teachers who have infiltrated the community, distorting the grace of God and denying the authority of Jesus Christ.

Jude recalls various instances from history where God punished those who rebelled against Him, including the angels who left their proper domain, the people of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the Israelites who did not believe. He likens these false teachers to rebellious and immoral individuals who follow their own corrupt desires.

The letter emphasizes the need for believers to build themselves up in their most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, and keeping themselves in the love of God. Jude encourages showing mercy to those who doubt, while also recognizing the urgency to save others by snatching them from the fire of judgment.

Jude concludes his letter by praising God, who is able to keep believers from stumbling and present them faultless before His presence with exceeding joy. He calls on them to worship God, who is the only wise God, our Savior, and through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
