In Matthew 17, Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up a high mountain, where He is transfigured before them. His face shines like the sun, and His clothes become dazzling white. Suddenly, Moses and Elijah appear and talk with Jesus. Overwhelmed, Peter suggests building three shelters for them.
A bright cloud envelops them, and a voice from the cloud declares Jesus as God’s beloved Son, urging the disciples to listen to Him. Filled with awe, the disciples fall to the ground, but Jesus touches and comforts them. As they descend the mountain, Jesus instructs them not to reveal what they have seen until the Son of Man has risen from the dead.
