Psalms 115:12
The Lord hath bene mindfull of vs, he will blesse vs, he will blesse the house of Israel: he will blesse the house of Aaron. Psalms 115:12 (KJV)
Psalm 115 is a song of praise that contrasts the greatness and faithfulness of God with the futility of idols. It belongs to the larger collection of poetic prayers and hymns that express Israel’s worship and trust in the living God. The psalmist declares that the LORD “hath been mindful of us,” affirming that God is aware of, and cares for, His people despite human frailty.
The verse proceeds to assure believers of God’s blessings. It promises that the LORD will bless the individual believer, the nation of Israel, and the priestly house of Aaron. This triple blessing underscores the comprehensive scope of divine favor—personal, communal, and covenantal.
In addition to blessing, the passage is understood by some readers as a declaration of God’s saving work. The language of deliverance—“we have been saved, it is he that hath delivered us”—reflects the broader biblical theme that God’s care includes rescue and redemption. Both the blessing and the deliverance motifs highlight the LORD’s active involvement in the lives of His people.
Throughout Scripture, God’s faithfulness to His covenant promises is repeatedly demonstrated. The psalmist reminds us that the same God who blessed the house of Israel and Aaron also consistently protects and sustains His people. This faithfulness assures us that the blessings spoken of are rooted in God’s unchanging character.
For contemporary believers, the verse offers encouragement that the same mindful God watches over us today. We can trust that He will provide for our needs, extend His blessings, and deliver us according to His perfect timing.
The psalm as a whole calls the faithful to reject idols and place their confidence in the living God. In response, believers are invited to offer gratitude, praise, and trust, recognizing the LORD as the true source of every blessing and salvation.
