Psalms 119:93

Posted on 18 May at 15:12

“I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me.”

Psalm 119:93 (KJV) says, “I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me.”

Context:Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible, consisting of 176 verses. It is an acrostic psalm, with each section starting with a different letter of the Hebrew alphabet. The psalmist expresses his deep love for God’s law, statutes, commandments, and precepts.

Remembering God’s Precepts:In verse 93, the psalmist declares, “I will never forget thy precepts.” The word “precepts” refers to God’s commandments or instructions. The psalmist is determined to keep God’s Word in his heart and mind, demonstrating a commitment to live according to God’s ways.

The Source of Spiritual Life:The psalmist states, “for with them thou hast quickened me.” The word “quickened” means to give life or revive. Here, the psalmist recognizes that it is through God’s precepts that he has experienced spiritual life and vitality. By following God’s instructions, he has found the path to true and abundant life.

Importance of God’s Word:This verse highlights the significance of God’s Word in the life of a believer. The precepts, commandments, and instructions found in the Scriptures are not to be neglected or forgotten. They are essential for guiding our lives, providing wisdom, and leading us closer to God.

Commitment and Devotion:The psalmist’s declaration to never forget God’s precepts reflects his deep commitment and devotion to God. It reveals a heart that seeks to follow God’s ways faithfully and continually. This verse encourages us to cultivate a similar attitude towards God’s Word and to make it a priority in our lives.

Application:As followers of Christ, we can learn from this verse by valuing and treasuring God’s Word. By studying and meditating on the Scriptures, we allow them to shape our thoughts, attitudes, and actions. Like the psalmist, we can experience the spiritual life and vitality that comes from aligning our lives with God’s precepts.

  • In summary:Psalm 119:93 emphasizes the psalmist’s commitment to never forget God’s precepts and recognizes the life-giving power found in them. It encourages us to value and meditate on God’s Word, allowing it to guide our lives and lead us into a deeper relationship with Him.
