Psalms 138:7

Though I walke in the mids of trouble, thou wilt reuiue me, thou shalt stretch foorth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies: and thy right hand shall saue me. Psalms 138:7 (KJV)

Psalm 138 is attributed to King David and is a song of praise and thanksgiving to God. It expresses David’s gratitude for God’s faithfulness, deliverance, and protection in his life. Understanding this background helps us grasp the meaning of the verse more effectively.

The psalmist acknowledges that he is walking in the midst of trouble, facing challenges and difficulties. This reminds believers that hardships are part of the human experience and that we are not immune to them. Yet the focus shifts from the problem to God’s response.

In the midst of those trials the psalmist declares his trust in God’s power to revive him. He affirms that God can renew our strength, restore our spirits, and bring new life to our souls. At the same time he rejoices in God’s loving‑kindness, placing confidence in the steadfast love that sustains him even when weary or discouraged.

The psalmist also affirms divine intervention. He states that God will stretch forth His hand against the wrath of his enemies, demonstrating confidence that God is not passive but actively works on our behalf. The same confidence is expressed in the belief that God’s loving‑kindness will continue to be a source of comfort and strength.

Finally, the psalmist looks to the saving power of God’s right hand, a symbol of strength and authority, and trusts that it will ultimately save him from his enemies. This assurance echoes the broader theme of God’s deliverance throughout the Psalms and reminds us that God’s presence remains a reliable source of comfort.

Application:

When we encounter troubles and challenges, we can rely on God to revive our spirits, renew our strength, and restore our hope. Turn to Him in prayer, seek His presence, and allow Him to rejuvenate your soul. Even when we face opposition or difficulty, we can trust that God will stretch forth His hand, fight on our behalf, and bring justice. Rest in the knowledge that our salvation and the sustaining power of God’s loving‑kindness are secure, and let that confidence shape our daily walk.
