Psalms 22:27

Listen to this article

“All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.”

Psalm 22:27 (KJV) says: “All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.”

Historical Context: Psalm 22 is attributed to King David and is classified as a Messianic psalm, meaning it prophesies about the coming Messiah, Jesus Christ. This particular verse speaks about the worldwide acknowledgment and worship of the Lord.

The Universal Remembrance: The verse begins with the declaration that “all the ends of the world shall remember.” It signifies a future time when people from all corners of the world will come to a realization or remembrance of the Lord. This suggests that there will be a global awareness and recognition of God’s existence, power, and sovereignty.

Turning to the Lord: The verse continues by saying that as people remember, they will “turn unto the LORD.” This implies a collective turning or repentance towards God. It indicates a shift in the hearts and minds of individuals from various nations, as they seek a relationship with the Lord and acknowledge His authority and grace.

Worshiping before the Lord: The latter part of the verse states, “all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.” Here, the psalmist emphasizes that the response to the recognition of God’s presence will be worship. It signifies an act of reverence, adoration, and submission before the Lord by people from all nations and tribes.

Fulfillment in Christ: As a Messianic psalm, Psalm 22 ultimately finds its fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus made salvation available to all nations. This verse points to a future time when people from every corner of the earth will acknowledge Jesus as Lord and worship Him.

The Great Commission: The fulfillment of Psalm 22:27 aligns with Jesus’ command in the New Testament. In Matthew 28:19-20, known as the Great Commission, Jesus instructs His disciples to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This commission reinforces the idea that people from every nation will come to worship the Lord.
