“Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.”

1. Context: Psalm 72 is attributed to King Solomon and is known as a royal psalm. It focuses on the ideal qualities and attributes of a righteous king. This particular verse serves as a concluding statement of praise to God.

2. Praise and Blessing: The verse begins with the exclamation, “Blessed be the LORD God.” This expression of blessing and praise acknowledges God’s greatness and highlights the psalmist’s reverence and gratitude towards Him.

3. Identification of God: The verse emphasizes that the LORD God being praised is the God of Israel. By identifying God as the God of Israel, the psalmist affirms the special covenant relationship between God and the nation of Israel. It reminds us that God’s faithfulness and wondrous deeds are connected to His chosen people.

4. Divine Wonders: The verse acknowledges that God alone does wondrous things. It recognizes God’s extraordinary works, His miraculous acts, and His sovereignty over creation. This verse serves as a declaration of God’s greatness and His unique ability to perform marvelous deeds.
