The verse asks two urgent questions. “How long, LORD?” expresses desperation over the length of God’s anger. The second question, “shall thy jealousy burn like fire?” pictures God’s passionate demand for exclusive loyalty. His jealousy is not petty envy; it is the holy response of a covenant God who will not share His people’s hearts with idols.
