Psalms 89:12
“The north and the south thou hast created them: Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name.”
In this profound verse, the psalmist directs our gaze to the boundless sovereignty and majestic power of God as the Creator. By declaring that God has created both the north and the south, the passage encompasses the entirety of the earth, acknowledging that every corner of the world is established by His hand and remains under His divine authority. There is no place beyond His reach or His loving care.
The imagery then shifts to two prominent mountains in the biblical landscape: Mount Tabor and Mount Hermon. These towering peaks are personified as actively rejoicing in the name of the Lord. Their very existence, standing firm and majestic against the sky, serves as a continuous, visible testimony to the strength and glory of their Maker. Just as the heavens declare His glory, the steadfast mountains echo with silent praise, demonstrating that all of creation responds with joy to the splendid reality of God.
For the believer, this truth offers deep spiritual assurance. The same Almighty God who formed the vast expanses from north to south and raised the heights of Tabor and Hermon is the One who watches over His people. His infinite power is not a distant, historical event, but a present reality that secures and sustains us. When we witness the beauty and magnitude of the natural world, we are invited to join in its chorus of praise—to stand firm in our faith and to rejoice unceasingly in the magnificent name of our Creator.
