Psalms 93:1

Posted on 18 May at 15:14

“The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.”

Certainly! Here’s a Bible study on Psalm 93:1 (KJV):

Psalm 93:1 (KJV) says: “The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.”

Context and Authorship:

Psalm 93 is one of the psalms attributed to King David. It is part of the collection of psalms known as the “Psalms of David” and is believed to have been written to exalt and praise the majesty and power of God.

The Lord reigns:

The opening phrase of Psalm 93:1 declares, “The Lord reigneth.” This statement affirms the sovereignty and authority of God. It reminds us that God is the ruler over all creation, and His reign is absolute and eternal. As believers, we find comfort and security in the knowledge that God is in control of everything.

Clothed with majesty and strength:

The psalmist describes God as being “clothed with majesty” and “clothed with strength.” These words depict God’s majestic and powerful nature. It highlights His glory, splendour, and awe-inspiring presence. It emphasises that God is not only a ruler but also possesses the strength and power to carry out His sovereign will.

The stability of the world:

The latter part of the verse states, “The world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.” This phrase acknowledges the stability and permanence of God’s creation. Despite the ever-changing circumstances and challenges we face in life, the world and all that is in it are established by God’s design. This verse reminds us that God’s creation operates according to His divine order, and His purposes will ultimately prevail.

Application:

Psalm 93:1 encourages us to trust in the sovereignty and power of God. It reminds us that no matter how chaotic or uncertain the world may appear, God is in control. We can find assurance in knowing that He reigns supreme over all things. It encourages us to rely on God’s strength and to seek refuge in Him during times of trouble and uncertainty. It also invites us to reflect on the stability of God’s creation and find comfort in the assurance that He has established everything according to His perfect plan.
