2 Kings 6 (KJV) Summary:
In 2 Kings 6, the narrative unfolds with the company of the prophets expressing their desire to expand their dwelling place. Elisha, a prominent prophet, agrees to accompany them to the Jordan River to gather the necessary materials. As they begin cutting down trees, one of the prophets loses an axe head, which falls into the water. Distressed, he seeks Elisha's assistance. Elisha performs a miracle and makes the iron axe head float, allowing the prophet to retrieve it.
Later, the king of Syria wages war against Israel and sets up camp in a specific location. However, God reveals the king's plans to Elisha, who warns the king of Israel, enabling him to safeguard his people. This happens on multiple occasions, leaving the king of Syria perplexed and suspecting a spy in his midst. However, he discovers that Elisha possesses the gift of prophetic knowledge and is responsible for his thwarted plans.
In a fit of rage, the king of Syria dispatches a great army to capture Elisha. When the servant of Elisha sees the surrounding army, he panics, fearing their imminent capture. However, Elisha remains calm and prays, asking God to open his servant's eyes. God answers the prayer, and the servant sees a heavenly host of horses and chariots of fire, protecting Elisha.
Elisha then proceeds to pray to God, asking Him to strike the enemy with blindness. God answers his prayer, and the entire Syrian army becomes blind. Elisha leads them into Samaria, where they are captured by the king of Israel. However, instead of destroying them, the king shows them mercy, feeds them, and sends them back to their king. Consequently, the Syrians cease their attacks on Israel.
