2 Chronicles 27 recounts the reign of Jotham, who became king of Judah at the age of twenty-five and ruled for sixteen years. Jotham followed the ways of the Lord and implemented reforms in the land. He fortified various cities in Judah and built castles and towers in the wooded areas. He also waged successful wars against the Ammonites, who paid him tribute.
Jotham's reign was marked by prosperity and strength, as he grew mighty because he prepared his ways before the Lord. However, despite his good deeds, the people continued to corrupt themselves by offering sacrifices at the high places. Nevertheless, Jotham continued to reign and accomplish great things until his death.
