And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

The timing of the circumcision on the eighth day follows the covenant God made with Abraham (Genesis 17:10-14) and the command in Leviticus 12:3. By submitting to this rite, Jesus, though sinless, identified with His people and fulfilled the law’s requirements. His name, “JESUS,” was not a parental choice but a divine directive given by the angel Gabriel before His conception (Luke 1:31). The name comes from the Hebrew “Yeshua,” meaning “Yahweh saves” or “Yahweh is salvation.” It reveals His mission: to save humanity from sin and reconcile them with God.
