Mark 6:52
“For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.”
Context:The preceding verses describe how Jesus had walked on water, approaching His disciples who were struggling against strong winds and rough waters. When Jesus entered the boat, the wind ceased, and they were greatly amazed. Mark 6:52 follows this event.
Lack of Understanding:The verse begins with “For they considered not.” The disciples had witnessed the miracle of the multiplication of loaves and fish, but they failed to comprehend the significance of this miracle. They didn’t fully grasp the power and authority of Jesus demonstrated through this miraculous feeding.
Hardened Hearts:The verse continues, “for their heart was hardened.” This implies that the disciples’ hearts were spiritually hardened or stubborn. Despite being eyewitnesses to numerous miracles, their hearts remained closed to the spiritual truths and the divine nature of Jesus.
- The Importance of Reflecting on Miracles:This verse highlights the significance of reflecting upon and considering the miracles or wonders of God. The disciples failed to fully comprehend the profound lesson and significance of the miracle of the loaves. Similarly, we must take time to meditate on the miracles, blessings, and provisions that God bestows upon us, recognizing His hand in our lives and deepening our faith.
