Psalms 126:3

The Lord hath done great things for vs: whereof we are glad. Psalms 126:3 (KJV)

Psalm 126 belongs to the collection known as the Songs of Ascents, psalms that the Israelites sang as they journeyed toward Jerusalem for the annual feasts. This particular song reflects on the restoration of Israel after captivity and the joyous return to the promised land.

The verse opens by acknowledging that the LORD, Yahweh, has done great things for His people, recognizing God as the source of their deliverance and restoration. It invites believers to take notice of the marvelous works God has performed in their own lives, both individually and collectively.

The psalmist’s response is one of joy and gladness. The passage reminds us to cultivate a heart of gratitude, to recognize and appreciate the blessings and favors we receive from God, and to rejoice in His faithfulness and provision.

Application begins with the practice of daily gratitude. Make it a habit to thank God each day, counting the blessings He has bestowed and allowing gratitude to become a defining characteristic of your relationship with Him.

When God works great deeds in your life, share your testimonies with others. Personal stories encourage and inspire fellow believers, serve as reminders of God’s faithfulness, and give glory to Him.

In times of difficulty or waiting, recall the great things God has done in the past. Trust in His continued faithfulness, knowing He is at work even when the results are not yet visible. Take comfort in the assurance that God is always with you and will continue to do great things in and through you.
