Psalms 80:1

Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth.

The phrase “thou that dwellest between the cherubims” refers to God’s presence above the ark of the covenant in the Holy of Holies. The cherubim were angelic figures on the ark, symbolizing God’s holiness and His nearness to His people.
