Revelation Chapter 12

Summery

Revelation 12 reveals a profound vision of celestial events and spiritual warfare. It begins with a great sign in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, standing on the moon, and wearing a crown of twelve stars. She is in labor, about to give birth to a male child who will rule the nations. A fiery red dragon with seven heads and ten horns waits to devour the child as soon as he is born.

The child is caught up to God's throne, and the woman flees into the wilderness where God protects her for 1,260 days. War breaks out in heaven as the archangel Michael and his angels battle against the dragon and his angels. The dragon is defeated and cast down to the earth, unleashing great fury. The heavenly voice rejoices over the victory, declaring the devil's defeat.

Realizing his time is short, the dragon pursues the woman, but she is given eagle's wings to fly away and escape. The dragon spews water like a river to drown her, but the earth helps her by swallowing the flood. Enraged, the dragon wages war against the woman's offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus.
