Revelation 19 describes a magnificent scene of rejoicing in heaven as the great multitude praises God for His righteous judgments. The chapter begins with a loud voice from heaven, proclaiming the defeat of the great harlot and the avenging of the blood of God's servants. The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures join in the praise, acknowledging God's reign and His just judgments.
A marriage supper is announced, symbolizing the union of Christ as the bridegroom with His bride, the Church. The bride is described as wearing fine linen, representing the righteous acts of the saints. John is overwhelmed by this vision and falls down to worship the angel revealing these things, but the angel admonishes him to worship God alone.
Then, the focus shifts to the majestic return of Jesus Christ on a white horse, accompanied by the armies of heaven. He is described as the Word of God and the King of kings. With the sword of His mouth, He defeats the beast and the false prophet, casting them into the lake of fire. The rest of the armies are slain, and the birds feast on their flesh.
Finally, the chapter ends with the capture of the beast and the false prophet, who are thrown alive into the lake of fire, while the rest of their followers are killed by the sword of Jesus. This dramatic chapter concludes with the victorious reign of Christ established on the earth, and the anticipation of the eternal reign of God.
