1 Chronicles Chapter 17

Summery

1 Chronicles 17 recounts an important moment in the reign of King David when he desired to build a permanent temple for the Lord. However, God spoke to the prophet Nathan, instructing him to relay a message to David. God commended David for his desire but revealed that he had chosen David's son, Solomon, to build the temple instead.

God promised David that He would establish Solomon's kingdom forever if he remained faithful to God's commandments. Additionally, God assured David that He would be a father to Solomon and would discipline him as needed but would not take His mercy away from him.

David responded with gratitude, praising God's faithfulness and promising to worship and honor Him. He acknowledged God's greatness and declared that the people of Israel would follow God's decrees. David concluded by asking God to fulfill His promises and bless the house of David forever.
